The Global Vaccine Alliance announced the allocation of more than two million doses of a vaccine against the emerging corona virus "Covid-19" to Yemen, during the first half of this year.
The coalition published on its website the list of countries that will receive vaccines and the quantity allocated to them within the Kovacs initiative concerned with the fair distribution of vaccines against the emerging corona virus, especially the poor countries, which have allocated 2,316,000 vaccine doses to Yemen.
According to the list of countries benefiting from the initiative published, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil and Bangladesh will receive the largest amount of vaccines in the first half of this year.
The initiative is jointly led by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and the World Health Organization.
According to the Kovacs initiative, "interim distribution projections provide information on the expected early availability of doses of Biontec and Pfizer in the first quarter of 2021, and the Oxford vaccine and AstraZeneca in the first half of the year."
The initiative seeks to provide doses of the vaccine to at least 20% of the population of 145 countries by the end of 2021, and approximately 337.2 million doses will be distributed in total, which will enable 3.3% of the population of those countries to be vaccinated, with a focus on the most vulnerable to the disease. As of Wednesday evening, the legitimate Yemeni government had registered 2,123 confirmed cases of the emerging coronavirus, "Covid-19", in its areas of control, including 615 deaths and 1428 recoveries.
